About Jeannie
My End-of-Life (EOL) work began in 2008 when I started volunteering at the North Hawaii Hospice while living on the Big Island of Hawaii. Since then I have volunteered with several Hospice organizations, in private homes, hospitals and care facilities. Currently I am affiliated with the Central Coast End-of-Life Doula Collective, Dignity Hospice, and End of Life Choices California. Additionally, I do some private practice work.
Although I had been doing end-of-life work as a hospice volunteer for years, I was not aware there was a thing called a Death Doula until 2015 when I took my first Doula training with INELDA. I was certified a short time later and I pursue additional end-of-lfe doula training and continuing education regularly.
I consider myself a “live and die as you wish" advocate. Terminal illness is a very serious and personal journey and I work diligently to accommodate each client's decisions as to how they wish to navigate that road. Primarily, my purpose is to meet each person where they are on their journey and help my clients prioritize the remaining time in their life to live as they want. My work can include assistance with the practical details of dealing with your death, documents, memorials, disposition of remains, etc. I will be an experienced companion and offer calm support for you and your family in your last months and at bedside, assist with after death care and arrangements and many other things a dying person would like guidance and help with. I can also give you information and assistance with legal End of Life Options such as Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) and Voluntary Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED). Look at my services for a more complete list of my offerings.
On a personal note, to enjoy life, wind down and have fun I like to dance hula, garden, paddle, walk on the beach, travel, hike and spend time with friends and family.
I prefer to work in person however, I will also serve you by zoom or telephone. My goal is to help terminally ill patients and their families make their death as uncomplicated, beautiful, peaceful, personal, and sacred as possible for them whether they are at home or in a facility. I reside and serve clients in San Luis Obispo County.
